BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Inspired by her faithful dog Bella and her own pen and ink drawings, Allie returned to creating art in her spare time, enabling her, with encouragement from friends, who have commissioned her work to create a portfolio.

Allie`s artwork draws on inspiration from her love of animals, focusing on movement and empathy for the subject, carrying paper to make notes and scribble down anything that interests her, rather like a pictorial diary.

Looking at the smallest sketches can often be the starting point of an idea for a drawing. Allie builds her work up from shapes and feelings then sketches in pen & ink. Using a fairly thin nib the works are built up from a series of dots which takes the form of tone and shade.

Allie enjoys looking at the innocence, beauty and intricacy of nature and the feelings that they create. She feels her ability to be able to capture even a hint of this is wonderful in itself!

Allie takes commissions to capture the subject in her unique pen and ink style that is special to the individual making the request. She also takes commissions from writers who wish to have their work illustrated. Please email or telephone Allie if you wish to commission a pen and ink picture that is special to you.
